Cat. #0010441: ELLEN CORBY

6x8-inch vintage black and white portrait as Grandma Esther, cozying up to hubby Will Geer, on T.V.'s "The Waltons" (1971-1980), boldly signed and inscribed in black fine-tip pen in the 1980s.  In good condition, with gentle edge wear.  On the big screen, scrawny, jittery character actress Ellen Corby played nosy neighbors, dizzy maids and secretaries, and meddlesome family members in classic films like Sons of the Desert (1933) and Babes in Toyland (1934) with Laurel and Hardy; The Spiral Staircase (1945); It's a Wonderful Life (1946); Cry Wolf (1947); I Remember Mama (1948); Little Women (1948); Madame Bovary (1949); Caged (1950); On Moonlight Bay (1951); Angels in the Outfield (1951); Shane (1953); The Seventh Sin (1957); and Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958).  She made numerous contributions to the horror and sci-fi genres, most notably Bedlam (1946) with Boris Karloff; The Locket (1946); Mighty Joe Young (1949); The Bowery Boys Meet the Monsters (1954); William Castle's Macabre (1958); Visit to a Small Planet (1960); The Strangler (1964); Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964); and classic episodes of "The Addams Family" (1965) and "Batman" (1968).
